Located only nine miles from the El Rey Court Santa Fe, the Santa Fe Opera is the area’s premiere venue for musical theater productions. Originally founded in 1957 by New York conductor John Crosby, the Santa Fe Opera sits on 150-acres of scenic desert land. During its long and illustrious history, the Santa Fe Opera has hosted more than 1,600 performances of nearly 140 different operas. This includes nine world premieres and 40 American premieres, including Daphne, Capriccio, Lulu, and The Cunning Little Vixen. Additionally, the Santa Fe Opera offers an array of educational and community outreach programs in an effort to make opera more appealing and accessible to the mainstream population.
